Eastover MUGA gets final finishing touches!

The SDC and Eastover Community Spirts Hub project has transformed the four disused tennis courts in Cranleigh Gardens with the installation of a large-scale community sport and play hub. These free-to-use facilities ( open seven days a week) include a multi-use games area ( MUGA) suitable for basketball, netball and football and a full-size tennis court. There is also an innovative street games zone including street darts, snooker and basketball hoop. The fourth zone has an outdoor gym as well as giant snakes and ladders and table tennis. The facilities have proved to be extremely popular with residents and visitors alike.

Inevitably,  there have been a few initial teething problems. After talking to local residents, Scott Mason,  the Parks Officer from Sedgemoor District Council,  arranged for an extra panel of fencing to be installed  – so reducing the likelihood of balls entering Teal Close.

Scott was also responsible for the extra netting to the fence in the basketball area.

Thank you,  Scott. We know the local residents are very grateful.

There also has been an extra metre of fencing installed along the MUGA boundary with PA Autos. The option of a roof has been explored, but funding an planning would be a big issue to overcome.

Please do email us at moira@eastover.co.uk and dave@eastover.co.uk if you would like to alert us to anything we should know about.

In the meantime, we very much hope that residents and visitors continue to take advantage of the  magnificent MUGA!
